My to-do is small and I’ve found a good system so hopefully turn around should be decent~

Eskiworks: Furry art is not a real job

eskiworks:

Sometimes I run in to people who are not very educated on the art world, and don’t know that you can have a job in many fields of art. One that a person can fully support themselves and their families on, and even find amazing financial success if they play their cards right. Many times, I have…

This is getting a lot of reblogs, but it’s well worth it. My wee little artist feelings wibbled and beat against my heart as I watched this!

Nightly Challenge number 1: Rubber
I’ve been working on nightly challenges, or did a couple days/week ago. I end up choosing something and challenging myself to draw/paint it. So I’ve been doing some quickish speedpaints. This one dealt with rubber or shiney material, and how it picks up the colors around it it. The hand pretty much looks weird since you can’t tell the thumb from another finger but I didn’t really worry to much about it. So yah it was interesting.
I have 2 more but I’m hoping to resume this again and start the challenges once more. If you are looking to improve on things or just want some challenges, then challenge yourself instead of waiting for a challenge.

Progress shots of Tanukiruno’s commission on FA.

We have the thumbnail, sketch, inks, flat color, and then finished piece. This ended up taking me longer then expected but I’m really happy with the outcome.

~RYO’S FIRST EVER GIVEAWAY!~

After going to see the Arena Spectacular show of HTTYD last week, I bought this mug at the merchandise stall! It’s a plastic mug and I haven’t used it once since I bought it—it’s brand new! After deciding I wasn’t ever really going to use it, I’ve decided to give it away!

Details:

  • One reblog per person maximum, no more or you’ll miss out, and a like counts as an entry too (so maximum of 2 entries)—giveaway blogs don’t count and I will be checking that the winner is an active account
  • Winner will be chosen using a random generator on Saturday 24th March and I’ll pay for shipping worldwide
  • You don’t have to follow me to be in the running!
  • I will contact the winner on the day the contest ends via Tumblr message and will give the winner 48hrs to respond before someone else is chosen

Good luck! I hope Toothless finds a good home!

Stop Comparing, Start Advancing

eskiworks:

I really love this short article because it talks about something all us artists struggle with; comparing yourself and your work to others. These are all valid and valuable points, but the one I ALWAYS say to people is number three, just in different words. It says “rather compare and despair, admire and inspire.” YES. There is no need to get down on yourself for what others have accomplished. You cannot help how you feel, but you can use your feelings to better yourself instead of digging the grave of your artistic ego. Use those emotions to fuel yourself on your journey as an artist.

forlackofabettercomic:

In today’s special comic, I give you all a rare look into my very personal brainstorming journal.

It seems like just yesterday, how did I miss the red flags raised?
I wanted to draw something dark and this is what I got. It was an attempt at a painted icon I wanted to offer.
